Qikiqtarjuaq (ᕿᑭᖅᑕᕐᔪᐊᖅ), früher als Broughton Island bekannt, liegt an der Ostküste von Baffin Island im kanadischen Territorium Nunavut, nördlich des Polarkreises.

Die kleine Gemeinde mit rund 600 Einwohnern ist von arktischer Tundra, Fjorden und treibenden Eisbergen geprägt.

Das Klima ist streng: lange, kalte Winter mit Temperaturen bis −40 °C, kurze, kühle Sommer um 10 °C, und das Meer ist in weiten Teilen des Jahres von Eis bedeckt.

Aufgrund der abgeschiedenen Lage wird die Versorgung der Gemeinde hauptsächlich per Flugzeug sichergestellt.

Die Küste der Davis Strait beeinflusst stark die Umweltbedingungen, darunter Permafrost und Küstenerosion, und prägt das Leben der Inuit-Gemeinschaft, die seit Jahrhunderten an diese extremen Bedingungen angepasst ist.

Qikiqtarjuaq (ᕿᑭᖅᑕᕐᔪᐊᖅ), formerly known as Broughton Island, is located on the east coast of Baffin Island in the Canadian territory of Nunavut, north of the Arctic Circle.

This small community of around 600 residents is surrounded by Arctic tundra, fjords, and drifting icebergs.

The climate is harsh: long, cold winters with temperatures down to −40 °C, short, cool summers around 10 °C, and the sea is ice-covered for much of the year.

Due to its remote location, the community is primarily supplied by aircraft.
