Pía-Fjord – spektakulärer Fjord in Patagonien

Der Pía-Fjord befindet sich im südlichen Teil des chilenischen Nationalparks Alberto de Agostini in der Region Magallanes und Antártica Chilena.

Er erstreckt sich vom Beagle-Kanal ins Landesinnere und wird von mehreren Gletschern gespeist, darunter der markante Pía-Gletscher, der aus der Darwin-Kordillere in den Fjord fließt.

Die Umgebung ist geprägt von steilen Granitwänden, subantarktischer Vegetation und vergletscherten Hochgebirgszügen.

Der Fjord ist ausschließlich auf dem Seeweg zugänglich und stellt ein typisches Beispiel für die stark gegliederte Küstenlandschaft des chilenischen Patagoniens dar.

Pía Fjord – spectacular fjord in Patagonia

The Pía Fjord is located in the southern part of Chile’s Alberto de Agostini National Park in the Magallanes and Antártica Chilena Region.

It stretches from the Beagle Channel inland and is fed by several glaciers, including the prominent Pía Glacier, which flows from the Darwin Cordillera into the fjord.

The surroundings are characterized by steep granite walls, subantarctic vegetation, and glaciated high mountains.

The fjord is accessible only by boat and is a typical example of the highly indented coastal landscape of Chilean Patagonia.
