Loreto – Bedeutender Wallfahrtsort in den Marken

Loreto ist eine italienische Gemeinde mit rund 12.900 Einwohnern in der Region Marken, etwa 20 Kilometer südöstlich von Ancona.

Nach dem Petersdom in Rom gilt Loreto als zweitwichtigster Wallfahrtsort Italiens und als einer der bedeutendsten katholischen Pilgerorte weltweit.

Die Basilika vom Heiligen Haus beherbergt die Santa Casa, die der Überlieferung nach das Heilige Haus von Nazareth ist, in dem Maria aufwuchs und die Verkündigung empfing. Der Legende nach wurde es von Engeln nach Loreto getragen.

Loreto – Important Pilgrimage Site in the Marche Region

Loreto is an Italian municipality with around 12,900 inhabitants in the Marche region, about 20 kilometers southeast of Ancona.

After St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, Loreto is considered the second most important pilgrimage site in Italy and one of the most significant Catholic pilgrimage destinations worldwide.

The Basilica of the Holy House contains the Santa Casa, believed by tradition to be the Holy House of Nazareth, where Mary grew up and received the Annunciation. According to legend, it was carried to Loreto by angels.
