Rabat – Hauptstadt Marokkos

Rabat (Zentralatlas-Tamazight: ⴰⵕⴱⴰⵟ – Aṛbaṭ, arabisch: الرباط – ar-Ribāṭ, „befestigter Ort“) ist seit 1956 die Hauptstadt Marokkos.

Die Stadt ist Sitz der Regierung sowie Residenz des marokkanischen Königs. Rabat liegt an der Atlantikküste an der Mündung des Flusses Bou-Regreg gegenüber der Stadt Salé.

Historische Bauwerke, breite Boulevards und die Lage am Meer prägen das Bild der politischen Hauptstadt des Landes.

Rabat – Capital of Morocco

Rabat (Central Atlas Tamazight: ⴰⵕⴱⴰⵟ – Aṛbaṭ, Arabic: الرباط – ar-Ribāṭ, meaning “fortified place”) has been the capital of Morocco since 1956.

The city is the seat of the government and the residence of the Moroccan king. Rabat is located on the Atlantic coast at the mouth of the Bou Regreg River, opposite the city of Salé.

Historic monuments, wide boulevards and its coastal setting characterize Morocco’s political capital.
