Cape Foulwind – Westküste der Südinsel

Cape Foulwind ist eine malerische Landzunge an der Westküste der Südinsel, rund 15 Kilometer westlich von Westport.

Den Namen „Foulwind“ erhielt das Kap von Captain James Cook, der hier die starken Winde und die Gerüche der Seehundkolonien entlang der Küste wahrnahm.

Eine der Hauptattraktionen ist der Cape Foulwind Walkway, ein Küstenwanderweg entlang der Klippen. Er bietet beeindruckende Ausblicke auf die Tasmansee und die raue Küstenlandschaft.

Der Weg führt außerdem zu einer Seehundkolonie, wo Besucher die Tiere in ihrem natürlichen Lebensraum beobachten können.

Cape Foulwind – West Coast of the South Island

Cape Foulwind is a scenic headland on the west coast of the South Island, about 15 kilometers west of Westport.

The name “Foulwind” was given by Captain James Cook, who noted the strong winds and the smell from the seal colonies along the coast.

One of the main attractions is the Cape Foulwind Walkway, a coastal trail running along the cliffs, offering spectacular views of the Tasman Sea and the rugged coastline.

The path also leads to a seal colony, where visitors can observe the animals in their natural habitat.
