Paparoa Nationalpark

Der Paparoa Nationalpark erstreckt sich über etwa 30.000 Hektar an der Westküste der Südinsel Neuseelands. Er umfasst eine vielfältige Landschaft aus Regenwäldern, markanten Felsformationen, tiefen Schluchten und zerklüfteten Küstenklippen.

Eine der bekanntesten Attraktionen des Parks ist die Pancake Rocks Formation. Diese außergewöhnliche Kalksteinformation besteht aus flachen, übereinandergeschichteten Lagen, die wie gestapelte Pfannkuchen wirken.

Besonders eindrucksvoll sind die Felsen bei starkem Wellengang, wenn Wasser durch sogenannte „Blowholes“ nach oben schießt.

Ein gut ausgebauter Küstenwanderweg führt zu den Aussichtspunkten und bietet spektakuläre Blicke auf das Meer und die bizarre Felslandschaft.

Paparoa National Park covers around 30,000 hectares along the west coast of New Zealand’s South Island. It features a diverse landscape of rainforest, dramatic rock formations, deep gorges and rugged coastal cliffs.

One of the park’s most famous attractions is the Pancake Rocks Formation. This remarkable limestone formation consists of flat, layered rocks that resemble stacked pancakes.

The scene becomes especially impressive during high tide, when waves force water upward through natural blowholes.

A well-maintained coastal walkway leads to various viewpoints, offering spectacular views of the sea and the unique rock formations.
