Innsbruck – Hauptstadt Tirols

Innsbruck (im lokalen bairisch-österreichischen Dialekt Innschbrugg) ist eine Großstadt im Westen Österreichs und Hauptstadt des Bundeslandes Tirol.

Der Name der Stadt verweist auf die Brücke über den Fluss Inn. Wahrzeichen der Stadt ist das berühmte Goldene Dachl in der historischen Altstadt.

Mit rund 130.000 Einwohnern ist Innsbruck die bevölkerungsreichste Stadt Tirols und zugleich die fünftgrößte Stadt Österreichs – nach Wien, Graz, Linz und Salzburg.

Im Ballungsraum leben etwa 300.000 Menschen. Hinzu kommen rund 30.000 Studierende an der Universität Innsbruck, der Medizinischen Universität und weiteren Hochschulen.

Innsbruck – capital of Tyrol

Innsbruck (locally pronounced Innschbrugg) is a major city in western Austria and the capital of the federal state of Tyrol.

The city’s name refers to the bridge over the Inn River. Its best-known landmark is the famous Golden Roof in the historic old town.

With about 130,000 inhabitants, Innsbruck is the largest city in Tyrol and the fifth-largest city in Austria, after Vienna, Graz, Linz and Salzburg.

Around 300,000 people live in the wider metropolitan area. In addition, roughly 30,000 students attend the University of Innsbruck, the Medical University and other institutions.
