Lisbon – The Capital of Portugal

Lisbon lies picturesquely on the banks of the Tagus River and is considered one of the most beautiful capitals in Europe. The city stretches across seven hills and is known for its historic neighborhoods, narrow streets, and numerous viewpoints overlooking red rooftops, church domes, and the river.

Particularly charming are old districts such as Alfama, with its winding streets, small cafés, and traditional atmosphere. Typical features of the cityscape are the yellow trams that wind their way through the steep lanes. Lisbon uniquely combines history and modern life – magnificent buildings from the Age of Discovery stand alongside a lively cultural scene and a relaxed lifestyle.

Among the most famous sights are the Belém Tower and the impressive Jerónimos Monastery, both reminders of Portugal’s great seafaring era. Walks along the riverfront, rides on historic trams, and sunsets from one of the many viewpoints add to the city’s special charm.
