Luxor-Tempel – Heiligtum des Amun

Der Luxor-Tempel (altägyptisch Ipet-reset) ist eine bedeutende Tempelanlage im heutigen Luxor in Ägypten.

Er wurde während des Neuen Reichs errichtet und galt als südlicher Harem des Gottes Amun von Karnak.

Der Tempel war der sogenannten thebanischen Göttertriade gewidmet: dem Gott Amun, seiner Gemahlin Mut und ihrem Sohn, dem Mondgott Chons.

Seit 1979 gehört der Luxor-Tempel gemeinsam mit dem Karnak-Tempel und der thebanischen Nekropole zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe. (Quelle: Wikipedia)

Luxor Temple – sanctuary of Amun

The Luxor Temple (ancient Egyptian Ipet-reset) is a major temple complex in the city of Luxor, Egypt.

It was built during the New Kingdom and was known as the southern sanctuary of the god Amun of Karnak.

The temple was dedicated to the Theban triad: the god Amun, his consort Mut, and their son, the moon god Khonsu.

Since 1979 the Luxor Temple, together with the Karnak Temple and the Theban necropolis, has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. (Source: Wikipedia)
